My family has organized Reformation Day celebrations on October 31 for many years now. Over the years we have developed ideas and learned ideas from other people. Now people have started asking us to share these ideas, so our family has organized all our ideas and activities into a few documents that can be used by others. We have organized the material into a few modules:
The Base Package This contains Invitation templates, Signs, Posters and decorations, and materials for general group activities such as the Wittenberg Door, Sola Darts, Lego building ideas, Crayon coloring pages, Quizzes, and Songs.
The Reformation Life Game This is a stand-alone board game developed entirely by my family which can be used as a group activity during Reformation Day - or any time you want at home! Includes all the paper resources except for a poster board; also requires glue, scissors, dice, and toothpicks. We also recommend laminating the materials.
The Luther Track This is a series of 6 activities to teach participants about the life of Martin Luther and the reformation in Germany in an engaging way. Complete with all the paper resources you need - you'll need to add some cans, candy, masking tape, glue, cups, coins, and a blindfold to round out the materials for this track.
The Knox Track This is a series of 6 activities to teach participants about the life of John Knox and the history of the reformation in Scotland and England in an engaging way. Complete with all the paper resources you need - you will need to add a cardboard box, bean bags, Rubber bands, candlestick, candy, copies of the U.S. constitution, masking tape, and pencils.
The Olivianus Track Another series of activities teaching about life of one of the writers of the Heidelberg Catechism in the context of the Dutch Reformation. This track has additional copyrighting, so contact us for details.
Reformation Jeopardy This is a PowerPoint file created by Amos Wilson, which can be operated by anyone as "game show host" for a fun group game with trivia questions about the reformations in England, Germany, Scotland, Sweden, Denmark, France, and even Italy!
Please email us if you if you are interested in downloading any of these files for group use. A financial donation will be requested.
We recommend starting with the Base package and the Luther Track, then adding new modules in future years to keep the event interesting to your guests.
If you would like to order a ready-made Reformation-Day-in-a-Box with the materials above already printed, cropped, laminated, and packaged with supplementary materials, or if you would like to be hired to turn the materials above into such a ready-made package, just let us know and we can try to match you up!
