MARY QUEEN OF SCOTTS' Prayer
Prayer of Mary Stuart (1542 - 1587) Queen of Scotland, Submitted by <GFritz@CProject.com> as quoted in Gire's book _Between_Heaven_And_Earth_
"Keep us, O God, from all pettiness, Let us be large in thought, in word, in deed. Let us be done with faultfinding and leave off all self-seeking. May we put away all pretense and meet each other face to face, without self-pity and without prejudice. May we never be hasty in judgment, and always generous. Let us always take time for all things, and make us grow calm, serene and gentle. Teach us to put into action our better impulses, to be straightforward and unafraid. Grant that we may realize that it is the little things of life that create differences, that in the big things of life we are as one. And, O Lord God, let us not forget to be kind!"
CHRISTIAN BOOKSTORES
From: Wade.Harlan@wciu.edu I woman at my church told me she went to a large Christian bookstore to get a book on the 10/40 Window. The clerk first said "Sorry we don't carry any tax booklets". My friend from church replied "No. The 10/40 WINDOW!!" The clerk then said "Oh, I'm so sorry, but we don't carry any computer software either!"

"Wherever you are, be all there. Live to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God."" - Jim Elliot
FAITH
From: NateWilson@XC.org Tom Horne, the Rocky Mtn. Region Consultant for ACMC shared with us recently that the only times recorded in the Gospels when Jesus actually chided his disciples was when they demonstrated a lack of faith. Tom encouraged us to exercise more faith in what our great God can do. This is a good encouragement for me, because I look at circumstances around me and question whether God will really provide for my needs. I look at my local church and despair that they will ever prioritize evangelism and missions. And that lack of faith must still disappoint God as it did when He walked on the earth with His disciples. Lord, help my unbelief!
MARK OF A GREAT CHURCH
From: Bruce Dow <DOW%1034@navistar.com> "The mark of a GREAT church is not its seating capacity, but its sending capacity." --Attributed to Mike Stachura
MECCA BLESSING
George Verwer, UMMA No.2 Jan.1996, submitted by <DMoody@CProject.com> "Never mind the Toronto blessing. Go for the Mecca blessing where you can get slain in the spirit AND the body right into the presence of the Lord...and it will NEVER wear off."
PASSION for What we Believe
From: G.P. Yesterday at a copy shop...I saw a young black clerk, about 20, reading a book. He set it down and I saw it was _Malcolm X_. Later, while he was reading it again, I asked him, "Is it a good book?" His response triggered this e-mail. He said, kindly, earnestly, "This book is so, so, so good. I mean, there is so much stuff in here." --"I saw the movie," I said. --"The movie was good, but this book is soo much better. I can't get enough of it. *Everyone* should read this book." That last phrase was his last words to me, and I couldn't forget them. Made me want to read the book! Made me want to re-evaluate my life. Am I as passionate about Jesus and the unreached peoples and mobilizing Christians as this young man is about Malcolm X? Father, please help me!
PERSEVERING PRAYER
From: "Merton Hershberger" <her28472@delta.obu.edu> ..Last spring, God impressed upon my heart to pray for five Yemeni men. I had no names or faces. No human had told me to pray. But God had, so I prayed nearly every day for these specific 5 men. As summer came and began to drag on, I got busy and discouraged in my prayers. I stopped praying for these men. As you know, five men were chosen to be persecuted last summer. Because I did not have ready access to e-mail, it was some time before I learned of what had happened. However, I quickly saw that I had faltered when the battle was hottest. God's conviction was on me heavily. I am reminded of Moses and his two supporters as Joshua waged battle in the valley below. I do not fully understand why God will let his armies "lose ground" as a result of our faithlessness, but he does. I am again praying for some believers in Yemen. May God strengthen his people to be faithful in the face of business, boredom, and persecution.
POUNCY, A.G. _IF OUR GOSPEL BE HID_:
"The devil is willing enough for us to be concerned for the circumference needs of heathendom. It does not worry him if we are horrified at the disease, ignorance, superstition and immorality; it does not upset his plans unduly if we build hospitals, found schools, and teach agriculture--and these things we must do if we really care for our fellow men--provided that we are blind to the organic spiritual cancer of which the visible needs are but symptoms."
PROFILES FROM PUBLISHER'S CLEARINGHOUSE
From: <WScottW@aol.com> Scott White While grading a student assignment I came across this gem that I thought some might find rather humerous. The student was asked what advice they might give to another regarding developing a primary strategy to reach a people group:
"It would definately be good to do people group research by using people profiles available through PUBLISHER"S CLEARINGHOUSE." It's possible The Adopt-A-People Clearinghouse may have a p.r. problem they need to look into! :) Now if only AD2000, USCWM or some other such organization could hit the Publisher's Clearinghouse jackpot, then we'd be talkin'!
REVIVAL & MISSIONS-COME & GO
The relationship between revival and world evangelization and their nexus in Christ, reminds me of a Catholic priest who shared on TV the truth that in the Gospels Jesus begins by saying, "Come, follow me," and ends by saying, "Go and make disciples of all nations." COME-GO, and "Lo, I will be with you always, even unto the end of the age." What a Savior we serve!--Chris
SPURGEON, C.H.
answered a student's question, "Will the heathen who have not heard the Gospel be saved?" thus: "It is more a question with me whether we who have the Gospel and fail to give it to those who have not, can be saved."
